Breaking News on Haiti Disaster:
A major earthquake hit Haiti on the evening of Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 5:53 EST. This was the most powerful earthquake to hit Haiti in 200 years. The initial quake (7.0 on the Richter scale) lasted about a minute, followed by strong 5.9 and 5.5 magnitude aftershocks. The epicenter of Haiti’s earthquake was six miles west of Carrefour, just outside the capital city of Port–au–Prince. The earthquake is reported to have been felt strongly in eastern Cuba, which is more than 200 miles away from Haiti.
